Florida State @ Boston College – Live Betting Value
Okay, so this line opens at -10 drops to -7 in favor of Florida State on the road, and has gone back up and the same thing with the total which opened up at 52.5 and dropped to 47, and is now sitting at 48. For me this is a no play before the game, because there are just a lot of unknowns. This is why I will be looking for several key numbers to take down during the live betting options for this game provided by my offshore sportsbook.
What to know about Florida State:
They are rebuilding with just 11 returning starters and have to replace the majority of their offensive line. Dalvin Cook at RB is by far the best player on the field and Florida State has 5 & 4 * receivers that could give Boston College a lot of issues. What worries me here is Cook just came off a 30 carry effort, and I don’t believe they can rely on him on a short week going on the road. Everett Golson will have to be the man to win this game. He can either struggle and Florida State wins by 3 or he can have a great game and Florida State and the over cashes. Again a lot of uncertainty.
What to know about Boston College:
They only return 9 starters and have to replace all 5 of their offensive linemen. They’ll return 6 on defense and the front 7 should be just fine against most opponents in run defense. If they can not get a pass rush though teams should be able to pass the ball on them without issue. I’m just not sold on this team’s ability to pass, and the running game should be just fine here against Florida State, but can they turn red zone attempts into TD’s? That’s what they’ll have to do in order to win and cover this spread. Steve Addazio always gets the most out of his team, but I just don’t think they are good as their 2 performances to open up the season against FCS opponents.
My strategy:
I’ll be shopping several numbers based on the eye test and value that I get from watching this game. We have already seen Florida State struggle early and get things going late so I wouldn’t be surprised to see a low scoring game at half or through the second quarter. The total last year was 57.5, it opened at 52.5 and is now down around 48. If I can get this below 44 in game I will probably take the over, but again if these two teams start throwing the ball around and score 4 TD’s in the first half then I may just flip the switch and play the under if it’s in the high 50’s, but I don’t see that happening.
For the side I really hope Boston College can get up 10-0 or more and if I can grab Florida State under a field goal I will do it, but I don’t anticipate that happening tonight. I anticipate a close fought game that Florida State pulls away late, because they will have the ability to stop Boston College’s offense.
