Yesterday’s match up that we had a free selection gets washed away as they are currently in a delay and the Pirates scratched Josh McDonald and moved him to Tuesday so that would have canceled our bet anyway as we are always playing these free picks based on the hot starter. Tuesday we look to come back with a free pick after two days off. For the first time all year we have more cold starters with seven than hot starters just 4. However, we are confident in one of the hot starters check out our free pick below we are ¬¬6-1 in our last 7 free pick articles.

Jordan Zimmermann (Nationals -140, 1.5*FREE PLAY) Jordan Zimmerann has been a pleasant surprise this year coming back from Tommy John surgery and he continues to role posting a 2.18 ERA on the road this year and he’s 2-1 with a 0.89 WHIP and 2.05 ERA over his last three starts. Zimmerann faces a lineup that is ranked 23rd in OPS vs. RHP and is the worst home team in the majors. Also the Astros have only seen him once and that was back in 2009. Astros are the worst home team and they are an awful 12-40 in their last 52 games vs. a RH starter. Also worth mentioning is the fact that the Nationals face one of today’s cold starters in J.A. Happ.

Happ is having a miserable year and he’s got a 7.79 ERA and 1.96 WHIP in his last three starts combined. Nationals are 1¬6-6 in their last 22 as a favorite and will look to take advantage of this match up as the Astros are 17-37 in their last 54 games as an underdog. It’s worth mentioning that the Nationals also have the advantage in the bullpen as they post a 3.92 bullpen ERA on the road this year while the Astros have a 5.20 ERA at home out of their bullpen.

Other Hot Starters L3 Starts:
Tim Stauffer 2-1, 19 IP, 1.79 WHIP, 9.00 ERA
Justin Masterson 3-0, 22 IP, 0.86 WHIP, 2.05 ERA
Rubby De La Rosa 1-2, 20 IP, 0.95 WHIP, 1.80 ERA

Cold starter with the best shot at winning is going to be Rick Porcello at -137. His last two starts vs. the Athletics have been solid going 12.1 IP giving up 3 ER. Tigers have been a significantly better home team while the A’s have been bad on the road. In fact the A’s are 17-38 in their last 55 road games vs. a RH starter while the Tigers are 30-13 in their last 43 home games vs. a team with a losing record and 9-3 with Porcello on the mound as a favorite. I guess the oddsmakers are buying into the A’s struggles going 5-23 in their last 28 road games.

Other Cold Starters L3 Starts:
Jeremy Guthrie (0-3, 17 IP, 1.76 WHIP, 7.94 ERA)
Anibal Sanchez (2-1, 14 IP, 1.79 WHIP 9.00 ERA)
Michael Pineda (1-2, 17.1 IP, 1.21 WHIP, 6.23 ERA)
