SBC Sports Betting News – Football Season Is Underway

Postby Freddy Wills » Wed Sep 05, 2012 7:39 pm

The more sports news you absorb in the wake of the first week of the college football season, the more you'll be struck by the rash of injuries sweeping over various teams in the United States.

Florida State Defensive End Is Knocked Out For The Entirety Of The 2012 Season

Various are wondering exactly how to re-calibrate the odds on the Florida State Seminoles now that one of the team's defensive ends has been pushed to the sidelines for the rest of this season. Brandon Jenkins, one of the team's most imposing and promising pass rushers, was injured this past weekend in the team's season opener against Murray State. The injury was revealed late Monday night by Bruce Feldman of CBS Sports to be a season-ending one. Cornellius Carradine will replace Jenkins on the Florida State depth chart, taking over at the defensive end spot. Florida State is still very deep on the defensive line, so a lot of college football pundits won't downgrade the Seminoles. However, this injury does reduce the team's level of depth, meaning that another injury setback in the coming weeks could severely compromise the Seminoles when they play Clemson and other contenders in the Atlantic Coast Conference. It will be interesting to see how Florida State tactically and psychologically reacts to this development as the month of September unfolds.

Tulsa Loses Best Receiver For The Remainder Of The Season

When asking yourself if you want to , the odds surrounding are simply one part of a larger equation. Speaking of the larger equation, the Tulsa Golden Hurricane have to be worried about where they stand at the moment. The team's most prolific and athletically imposing receiver, Bryan Burnham, was injured for the entirety of the season with a torn ligament in his right knee. Tulsa is a main contender, alongside Southern Methodist, for the West Division championship in Conference USA. With the defending C-USA West champions, the Houston Cougars, in trouble after a 17-point loss to Texas State, it seems more likely than ever that Tulsa and SMU won't have much competition in their division. Now that Burnham is injured, SMU has to be seen as the favorite in C-USA West. It's going to be hard to arrive at a different conclusion, at the very least.

Washington Loses Multiple Players In Advance Of Big Clash With Louisiana State

In the world of , it goes without saying that in a high-profile non-conference game in early September, a visiting team has to have all hands on deck. Yet, the Washington Huskies are going to be shorthanded as they go down to Baton Rouge, La., to take on the Louisiana State Tigers this Saturday in one of week two's more interesting intersectional encounters.

The Washington Huskies and head coach Steve Sarkisian announced the other day that starting tailback Jesse Callier and defensive end Hau’oli Jamora are going to be unavailable not just for Saturday, but for the rest of the season with knee injuries, ACL tears to be specific. Moreover, starting right tackle Ben Riva is going to be out indefinitely with a broken bone in his forearm. It's hard to see how Washington can hold up in the face of LSU's depth and physicality in the trenches. The Huskies are going to be in trouble at the line of scrimmage.
