TCU vs. Texas Tech Betting Preview

September 25, 2015 | Posted By Freddy Wills

TCU defeated Texas Tech 82-27 last year at home, and it’s no surprise that you see a lot of people selecting Texas Tech for the upset.  I too even had Texas Tech as a lean, and I will not be surprised if it happens, but it’s a betting pass for me.

Value – We don’t have it, because this line moved 5 points since opening from 11 down to 6 in favor of Texas Tech.  I don’t see value taking the Red Raiders at this number even with TCU missing some guys on defense.  Gary Patterson has shown he can play defense against an offense like Texas Tech and TCU’s weaknesses on defense this year have come more from the run defense.

Kliff Kingsbury – Be careful jumping on his band wagon.  I just do not think he’s a top coach and I don’t think he can come up with the big win at home.  That will be two huge upsets in back to back weeks.  Even with 17 returning starters this is a team that gave up 45 points to Sam Houston State and there is no surprise that they beat Arkansas who were likely still getting over their loss a week before to Toledo.

Prediction – I actually think we will see a game under the total although I’m staying away here.  Look for TCU to take the lead late in the 4th and for Texas Tech to drive for the backdoor cover that they do not get.  TCU 38 – Texas Tech 27. The total in this game is 80.5 points.
