Sports Betting – Taking A Look At Thursday’s Slate

Even if you’re , you likely still have enough time to get in on some sports betting outside of the racetrack, and Thursday would be a good day as there is plenty of variety of the menu, beginning with the third week of preseason in the NFL, a few baseball matchups and the beginning of golf’s version of the playoffs.

NFL Betting

Panthers Bengals Odds (7:00 PM ET): The Bengals are 2.5-point favorites against the Panthers in a matchup of two teams that will probably start a pair of rookies at quarterback in Carolina’s No.1 overall pick Cam Newton and Cincinnati’s Andy Dalton.

Browns Eagles Odds (7:30 PM ET): The Eagles are 7-point favorites at home against the Browns after getting thumped in their last preseason game, committing five turnovers against Pittsburgh.

Redskins Ravens Odds (8:00 PM ET): The Ravens are 5.5-point favorites in Baltimore against Washington as the third week of preseason kicks off, and you’ll see the starters get their most work this week around the NFL.

MLB Baseball Betting

Athletics Yankees Odds (1:05 PM ET): The Yankees will likely be favored at home with Phil Hughes, but the Athletics’ Rich Harden is coming off a strong start against another American League East team, Toronto.

Tigers Rays Odds (1:10 PM ET): Detroit’s Doug Fister continues to settle in, but he doesn’t have much time as the Tigers are trying to wrap up the American League Central. The Rays will go with young Jeremy Hellickson and while the Rays are out of the playoff picture, they’re still capable of playing the role of spoiler and with the youth on their team, they’ll play every out as hard as they can.

Red Sox Rangers Odds (8:05 PM ET): Finally, Boston will send out Andrew Miller to face Texas’ Alexi Ogando, who is coming off his best start in over a month and the Rangers need their rookie All-Star to get back on track to boost their odds for the World Series.

Golf Betting

The Barclays Odds (tee times start at 7:15 AM ET): World No.1 Luke Donald is the sports betting favorite at The Barclays, the first stop on the FedEx Cup playoffs, and he’ll tee off at 1:06 PM ET with Phil Mickelson and Keegan Bradley. Other notable groups include defending FedEx Cup champion Jim Furyk, Sergio Garcia and Harrison Frazar at 7:37 AM ET, the Australian duo of Adam Scott and Jason Day alongside Bill Haas at 7:59 AM ET and Nick Watney, Steve Stricker and Webb Simpson (who won last week) at 8:21 AM ET. It should be a very exciting tournament for players to watch.
