Sports Betting – A Preview Of Thursday’s Wagering Slate

Those following will get their fix earlier this week as the 10th week of the NFL regular season starts on Thursday with a divisional matchup. There is also an important college football game in the ACC, while the NHL is in action as well.

NFL Betting

Raiders Chargers Odds (8:20 PM ET): San Diego is a 7-point favorite at home against their AFC West rivals from Oakland, and a of the Raiders’ last game will tell you that they were run over by Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos. The Chargers lost a shootout at home to Green Bay, and the two now have to bounce back and get a win in a tight, albeit average, division as one game separates all four teams (Kansas City and Denver will meet this week as well).

College Football Odds

Virginia Tech Georgia Tech Odds (8:00 PM ET): odds have the No.10 Hokies by a single point on the road against the No.21 Yellow Jackets, who trail Virginia Tech by a half-game in the ACC Coastal. This may not be a pretty game as the Hokies depend on a strong rushing game and their defense (typical of a Frank Beamer team), while the Yellow Jackets roll out the triple-option offense (typical of a Paul Johnson team). There aren’t many secrets between the two, so it should be good.

NHL Betting

Oilers Bruins Odds (7:00 PM ET): Boston should be the favorites at home by odds, and they seem to be awake after an early-season struggle. Meanwhile, the young Oilers have been one of the surprises of the season as they lead the Northwest division, but the defending Stanley Cup champions will prove to be a big test, especially on the road.

Maple Leafs Blues Odds (8:00 PM ET): St. Louis should be slight favorites at home as they are still getting used to new coach Ken Hitchcock, while Toronto still sits atop the Northeast, but they’ve lost two in a row behind some awful defending and goaltending. Their starting goalie is still on the sidelines with concussion-like issues, which likely affects the decisions made by their defensemen, but they have to get it together quickly as the Blues are coming off a 3-0 shutout at home against Chicago.

Canucks Kings Odds (10:30 PM ET): Two Western contenders square off in Los Angeles, and the Kings should be narrow favorites at home in a matchup of two teams that haven’t played their best hockey yet. The Canucks are just coming around from the hangover of losing the Stanley Cup to Boston, while the Kings have cooled off after a hot start, but it’s definitely a game worth watching for players.
