News: Giants Stun Packers To Reach NFC Championship

After each of the first three home teams clinched a spot in their respective conference championship games, it was up to Eli Manning and the New York Giants to provide the lone upset in the NFL divisional playoff round. Manning and company were up to the task, knocking off the defending Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers 37-20, with Manning throwing for 330 yards and a touchdown. The Giants’ defense sacked Packers’ quarterback Aaron Rodgers three times and forced four Green Bay turnovers, including three fumbles and an interception. With the win, New York clinches a spot in the NFC Championship game against the San Francisco 49ers, who will have home-field advantage after squeezing past the New Orleans Saints in a 36-32 win on Saturday. Meanwhile, the Baltimore Ravens clinched a spot in the AFC Championship game earlier in the day with a 20-13 win over the Houston Texans, and will travel to New England to play the Patriots next week.

Betting News: Malkin’s Memorable Night Lifts Pens Past Bolts

Pittsburgh Penguins’ winger Evgeni Malkin stole the spotlight on a busy NHL Sunday with three goals and two assists in a 6-3 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning. In addition to putting together the hat trick and being responsible for five of the team’s six goals, Malkin also got in to it with Tampa Bay center Vincent Lecavalier, something that could lead to Lecavalier receiving a fine and/or suspension from the league for his sucker punch late in the game. Meanwhile, Anaheim Ducks’ winger Jason Blake scored two goals, including the game-winner, and finished with three points in a 4-2 win over the defending Western conference champion Vancouver Canucks, while Chicago Blackhawks’ captain Jonathan Toews scored the game-winning goal that lifted his team to a 4-3 win over the San Jose Sharks in a showdown of top contenders from the west.

NBA News: Wade, Paul Set To Miss Time This Week

Two of the biggest stars in the NBA could be sidelined for the next couple of weeks, as Miami Heat guard Dwayne Wade and Los Angeles Clippers’ guard Chris Paul both suffered injuries over the weekend. Wade suffered a sprained ankle in the fourth quarter of Friday’s 117-104 loss to the Denver Nuggets, and there is no timetable for his return after X-ray’s came back negative. Meanwhile, Paul is listed as day-to-day after injuring his hamstring in a 102-94 win over the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday, and with Mo Williams and Eric Bledsoe already out, the Clippers could be in trouble at the guard position with only Chauncey Billups available this week.

Golf News: Wagner Comes Through In Sony Open

It was the man with two last names that clinched the Sony Open on Sunday, as Johnson Wagner won his third PGA Tour event by playing bogey-free over the last 12 holes. Wagner closed out the tournament with a three-under-67, winning the event at Honolulu by two strokes. Carl Pettersson, Sean O’Hair, Charles Howell III, and Harrison Frazar finished tied for second at 11-under.
