NFL News: Eli, Giants Do It Again At Super Bowl XLVII

A good portion of the focus heading in to Super Bowl 46 was centered around Tom Brady and the New England Patriots earning revenge for their loss to the New York Giants at Super Bowl 42. 60 minutes later, the Patriots were experiencing Déjà vu as Eli Manning marched New York down the field for the game-winning drive once again in a 21-17 win, finishing the day with 296 passing yards and a touchdown to earn his second Super Bowl MVP award. New England had its chances to put the game away with a 17-9 lead in the third quarter, but several dropped balls and defensive miscues ultimately cost a Patriots’ team that has been to five Super Bowls since 2001, but lost the past two now to the Giants. The win caps off a huge turnaround to New York’s season, as they were 7-7 heading in to week 16 of the regular season, when they won their final two regular season games and then took down the Atlanta Falcons, Green Bay Packers, San Francisco 49ers, and then once again, the Patriots.

Betting News: Thomas Shuts Down Capitals In Nation’s Capital

After receiving some boos before the game from the crowd in the nation’s capital, Boston Bruins’ netminder Tim Thomas effectively shut them up with 35 saves in a 4-1 win over the Washington Capitals on Monday. Milan Lucic, Brad Marchand, Rich Peverley, and Tyler Seguin each scored for the Bruins, which remain three points back of the new York Rangers for first in the Eastern conference after they took down the Philadelphia Flyers 5-2. In other action, Carey Price made 23 saves for the shutout in a 3-0 win over the Winnipeg Jets, while Ilya Kovalchuk had a goal and two assists as the New Jersey Devils toppled the Pittsburgh Penguins 5-2 for their fourth straight win.

NBA News: Heat Stay Warm Long Enough To Hold Off Raptors

With just two games featured on a quiet Super Bowl Sunday, a pair of Eastern conference contenders made some noise with a pair of home wins. Kevin Garnett scored 24 points and added nine boards as the Boston Celtics earned their fourth straight win in a 98-80 blowout over the Memphis Grizzlies, as the continue to fight their way back up the standings. Meanwhile, Lebron James added another 30 points to his resume in the Miami Heat’s 95-89 win over the Toronto Raptors despite being outscored by seven in the final frame. Chris Bosh scored 12 against his former team, while Wade added another 25, but the big story was again James, whose steal and dunk with time winding down laste in the fourth effectively sealed the win.

Cycling Sports Betting News: Contador Receives Two-Year Ban; Stripped of 2010 Title

Spain’s Alberto Contador has been stripped of his 2010 Tour de France title and given a two-year ban from the event after a court of arbitration ruled on his use of a banned stimulant on Monday. Contador tested positive for the stimulant clenbuterol, and as a result, that victory will be handed to Luxembourg’s Andy Schleck, who was the 2010 Tour de France runner up by only 39 seconds.
