NBA News: Linsanity Continues In Win Over Defending NBA Champions

Linsanity hit a new high with the New York Knicks on Sunday in a 104-97 win over the defending NBA champion Dallas Mavericks, with sensation Jeremy Lin scoring 28 and adding 14 assists and four rebounds. JR Smith scored 15 in his Knicks’ debut despite not yet practicing with the team, and the Knicks continued to roll. Meanwhile, frustrations reached a new-high on Sunday following the Los Angeles Lakers’ 102-90 loss to the Phoenix Suns, after which superstar Kobe Bryant tore in to team management for their indecision involving a move with center Pau Gasol. Bryant talked with reporters about how difficult it has been for Gasol to play at a high level with all the rumors surrounding him, as Los Angeles fell to 18-13 on the season. Carl Edwards was on the verge of clinching his first NASCAR Sprint Cup Series title up until the final race of the 2011 calendar, when he placed second to SCS champion Tony Stewart both in that run and in the final standings. Fast-forward to this season and the Daytona 500 coming up this weekend, and Edwards will be in familiar territory out front on the pole to begin the race after clinching that opportunity in qualifying on Sunday. Last year’s Daytona winner Trevor Bayne qualified for the Daytona 500 out of the ninth position, while Stewart will start 10th.
