NHL News: All Eyes On Nash During NHL Deadline Day

The biggest name on the market heading in to the NHL trade deadline day is Columbus Blue Jacket’s forward Rick Nash, but there is no guarantee that the team’s top talent will be on the move. The Blue Jackets are looking for a big package in return for the face of their franchise, and moving Nash may not be the best move for the club in the long-term. There is not a single team that wouldn’t love to have Nash, but only at the right price, and right now that bar has been set pretty high. Meanwhile, the rest of the NHL’s 29 clubs have been divided up between those looking to add to their current roster for a playoff run, and those looking to sell to build for their future. It will be very interesting to see what happens on deadline Monday, as their should be a ton of moves that will effect the outlook going forward for the rest of the season.

NBA News: Durant, West Win All Star Game; Kobe Breaks Nose

While Oklahoma City Thunder superstar Kevin Durant scored 36 and was named All Star MVP, it was one of his Western conference teammates that stole the spotlight on Sunday, for reasons both good and bad. Los Angeles Lakers’ superstar Kobe Bryant scored 27 points in the 152-149 win to move past Michael Jordan and become the career leader on the all-time All Star scoring list, but he also broke his nose on a hard foul from Miami Heat guard Dwayne Wade. Bryant left the game with a bloody nose, and a CT scan revealed it was in fact broken. Bryant will be re-evaluated upon his return to Los Angeles.

News: Buckeyes Suffer Another Upset Loss Sunday

The No. 9 Ohio State Buckeyes looked like a lock to win the Big Ten just a couple of weeks ago, but after a third-straight loss to a ranked opponent on Sunday that is no longer the case. The Buckeyes dropped a crucial home game to the No. 15 Wisconsin Badgers on Sunday, their third straight loss to a ranked opponent following defeats at the hands of Michigan State and Michigan. The loss now puts them two games back of the Spartans for the top seed in the Big 10 with just two games left to play, including their season-finale on the road at Michigan State.

NFL News: RGIII Sets Fastest Time At NFL Combine

Baylor Bears’ quarterback and Heisman trophy winner Robert Griffin III set the mark for fastest quarterback at the NFL combine on Sunday, recording a 4.41 in Indianapolis in the 40-yard dash. That mark was just 0.05 seconds less than the fastest time set that day, which belonged to three wide receivers, including Georgia Tech’s Stephen Hill, Miami’s Travis Benjamin, and Stanford’s Chris Owusu. For the record, Griffin’s mark of 4.41 was substantially better than Andrew Luck’s 4.67, but that was to be expected, and shouldn’t change anything about where those two prospects are expected to go.
