Golf News: Watson Earns Green Jacket In Masters’ Playoff

In a tournament where there was no distinct favorite to win from the very outset was up in the air, it only made sense that the 2012 Masters tournament finished with a playoff, and Bubba Watson winning his first green jacket with a terrific performance on the final day. With official favorite Tiger Woods long done, and Phil Mickelson running out of gas on the final day, Watson and Louis Oosthuizen of South Africa were left to battle it out for the title. Both players finished the final round tied at 10-under, resulting in a playoff that saw an emotional Watson come through with the biggest win of his career as an absolute sleeper pick to win at Augusta.

News: Red Sox Bullpen Providing Immediate Concerns

Another day of baseball and another blown save by the Red Sox bullpen has fans in the Boston area absolutely cringing heading in to a new week. A packed house at Comerica Park in Detroit watched on as Alex Avila hammered a two-run home run with two outs in the bottom of the 11th to give the Tigers a stunning 13-12 win, marking the second time in three losses that the bullpen cost the Red Sox a win. Leading 10-7 in the ninth inning, Alfredo Aceves allowed a three-run home run by Miguel Cabrera to blow the save and force extra innings, before Boston took another lead with two runs in the 11th. This time it was Mark Melancon who couldn’t hold the lead, giving up the three-run shot to Avila that ended the game. While it is still early in the season, the Red Sox have reason to really be worried about the way that they were swept in the opening series, with the bullpen really being exposed.

A packed house at the Madison Square Gardens was on its feet as Anthony took the team on his back, making up for both Amare Stoudamire and Jeremy Lin being out with one of his best performances of the season. Elsewhere on the hard court Sunday, Boston Celtics’ forward Kevin Garnett scored 20 and was a defensive force in a 103-79 win over the Philadelphia 76ers, while Tony Parker had 20 points in the San Antonio Spurs’ 114-104 win over the Utah Jazz.
