NBA News: Heat Even Series With Pacers; Clippers Stay Alive

The Miami Heat had no problem evening their series with the Indiana Pacers at two games each with a 101-93 win on Sunday. All it took was 40 points, 18 rebounds, and nine assists from Lebron James, who led the way for a Miami team that had dropped consecutive playoff games for the first time since last year’s NBA finals. With Chris Bosh still sidelined, James got some help from Dwayne Wade, who scored 22 of his 30 points in the second half as he continues to battle with an injured knee. The fact that the tandem of James and Wade combined for 70 points is impressive, but they may need to do even more as this series is now reduced to a three-game set. Meanwhile in Los Angeles, the Clippers couldn’t hold off the San Antonio Spurs for even one game as they dropped their fourth-straight in a 102-99 final. The sweep is the second in a row for the Spurs to open the playoffs, after they took out the Utah Jazz in four-straight in the first round.

NHL News: Coyotes Stave Off Elimination With Game Four Win; Torts Sounds Off

The Phoenix Coyotes are still facing a major deficit down three-games-to-one in their Western conference final series against the Los Angeles Kings, but at least they will get to play one more home game as the series heads back to the desert following a 2-0 win on Sunday. Captain Shane Doan scored both Coyotes’ goals, and Mike Smith made 36 saves as Phoenix held on for its first win in the series. Meanwhile, the Hudson River rivalry got even hotter when New York Rangers’ head coach John Tortorella went off Sunday about the tactics that the New Jersey Devils have used in the playoffs, talking about the way that the team has dived and embellished to draw calls, and used illegal picks to open up space on the powerplay for superstar Ilya Kovalchuk.

News: Scherzer Strikes Out 15 In Tigers’ Win Sunday

Detroit Tigers’ starter Max Scherzer fell just one strikeout short of tying the franchise record for most in one game on Sunday, throwing 15 K’s in a 4-3 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates. Scherzer got within one strikeout of the record in just seven innings of work, with Alex Avila’s two-run tiebreaking single in a three-run seventh another piece of a magical day at Comerica Park in Detroit. Meanwhile, Jonathan Lucroy went 3-for-5 with two home runs and 7 RBI as the Milwaukee Brewers disposed of the Minnesota Twins in a 16-4 blowout win, while Colby Lewis pitched a fine performance for the Texas Rangers in a 6-1 win over the Houston Astros, striking out six while allowing just one earned run over eight innings.

NASCAR News: NASCAR Fans Upset At Mr. Five-Time For Sandbagging Incident

NASCAR fans never seem to run out of reasons to be upset with five-time Cup series champion Jimmie Johnson, and now they have found a new one in the aftermath of the 48-car coming out on top in Saturday’s All-Star race. Fans were upset that after winning the first segment of the race and basically taking control of it, Johnson cruised for the next 60 laps before turning it up again for the win, and the $1 million prize. While Johnson will argue that he played the race to perfection, others might call it manipulation on his behalf, leading to even more drama around the former champion.
