NBA News: Lebron, Heat Take Command Of NBA Finals

Lebron James has been here before. He understands what it will take to earn his first NBA title. James scored 29 points and added 14 rebounds for the Miami Heat in a 91-85 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday night, taking a two-games-to-one lead in the best-of-seven finals. Dwyane Wade added 25 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists, while Chris Bosh had 10 points and 11 rebounds in a starting role once again. Miami has now won both games that Bosh has started in the series, drastically changing the outlook of the series after the Thunder won the opener. Kevin Durant once again led Oklahoma City in scoring with 25 points, while Russell Westbrook finished with 19. Game four goes Tuesday in Miami, where the Heat can move to within one win of an NBA title.

Golf News: Webb Simpson Survives Olympic Club For US Open Championship

In a tournament decided more by limiting mistakes than actually playing well, Webb Simpson emerged victorious at the Olympic Club on Sunday for his first US Open championship. Simpson earned his first major tournament trophy despite finishing the tournament at +1, surviving the four rounds as much as he did win at the end. It wasn’t all struggles for Simpson, who owes a lot of credit for his win to a stretch of four birdies in five holes in which he got right back in to contention. Graeme McDowell, who held at least a share of the lead through 54 holes, struggled on the front nine and ultimately that allowed Simpson to squeeze past him for the close one-stroke win.

NASCAR News: Dale Jr. Finally Snaps 143-Race Winless Streak

Dale Earnhardt Jr. has remained in contention for the Chase all season despite not being able to finally get back to Victory Lane. That changed Sunday at Michigan, where NASCAR’s favorite son won for the first time in 144 races, dominating the field and pulling himself to within four points of Matt Kenseth for top spot in the Sprint Cup Standings. Earnhardt Jr. already led the way in top-10 finishes this season heading in to this race with 11, but if he is going to have any chance once the Chase begins, he will have to find a way to win.

MLB News: Yankees Sweep Nationals In Battle Of Top Teams

Curtis Granderson hit his 21st home run of the season in the fifth, and Robinson Cano added another solo shot in the seventh, as the New York Yankees cruised to a 4-1 win over the Washington Nationals on Sunday to complete a three-game series sweep. The Yankees have now won nine-straight games to take over top spot in the American League East, with a three-game home series against the Atlanta Braves next on the schedule. New York isn’t the only first place team on an extended win streak, as Johnny Cueto threw eight strikeouts over seven innings, giving up just one earned run as the Cincinnati Reds cruised to a 3-1 win over the New York Mets, to complete the sweep and give them six-straight victories.
