Sports Betting – A Look At Thursday’s Betting Slate

Postby Freddy Wills » Wed Jul 18, 2012 5:18 pm

A look at the sportsbook on Thursday would find it to be heavy on baseball, although the action starts early and goes right through the night. The British Open also tees off in England, so that means getting an early start on your betting day.

MLB Betting

Giants Braves Odds (12:10 PM ET): Madison Bumgarner was nine years old when 37-year-old Tim Hudson made his MLB debut, and the two will open up the day for players that run . Bumgarner has supplanted the struggling Tim Lincecum in the No.2 spot behind Matt Cain, so Hudson will have to use all his veteran tricks to beat.

Indians Rays Odds (12:10 PM ET): Tampa Bay’s David Price is 4-0 in his last five starts and is trying to catch up to Los Angeles’ Jered Weaver in the Cy Young race, and he’ll lead the Rays out against the Indians and Ubaldo Jimenez, who can toss a scoreless game in one outing and give eight runs in the next.

Mets Nationals Odds (12:35 PM ET): New York’s R.A. Dickey has allowed five runs in three of his last four starts, and he’ll take the Mets into Washington to face Gio Gonzales in a meeting of 12-win pitchers.

Angels Tigers Odds (1:05 PM ET): Detroit’s Max Scherzer gets the call for the Tigers in the Motor City, while the Angels counter with Jerome Williams. Detroit has some momentum heading into the weekend and Williams has lost four in a row.

Marlins Cubs Odds (2:20 PM ET): Miami’s Mark Buerhle pitched in Chicago for 12 seasons, but he was in a White Sox uniform. He’ll take to the mound at Wrigley Field on Thursday afternoon against Paul Maholm, who is 3-0 in his last four starts.

White Sox Red Sox Odds (7:10 PM ET): Kevin Youkilis’ return to Boston has been the running storyline at for this series, which wraps up with Jose Quintana facing Clay Buchholz, who is second in the American League in getting run support.

Yankees Athletics Odds (10:05 PM ET): New York’s Freddy Garcia finishes the day in Oakland against A.J. Griffin, who will be making his fifth career start, but he has given the Athletics six innings in each of his first four starts.

Golf Odds

British Open Betting (tee times start at 1:30 AM ET): Tiger Woods, who is the sport betting (click to lay a sports bet) favorite, goes off with Sergio Garcia and Justin Rose at 4:42 AM ET at Royal Lytham and St. Annes in the first round of the oldest major championship tournament in golf, while Luke Donald, Phil Mickelson and Geoff Ogilvy anchor the afternoon (in England) threesomes. Get to your sportsbook as quickly as possible to make your picks at your favorite .
