10* FREE MLB PICK (UNDER 7.5)

I'll take my chances here with the UNDER 7.5, which might sound a bit crazy to some given these two just combined for 23 runs in the Cubs 12-11 win last night. Yesterday it felt like every fly ball that was hit was leaving the park, but with Wrigley Field the conditions can change drastically from one day to the next. Today the temps are going to be in just the high 70s and the wind will be blowing straight in from center. Chicago will have Kyle Hendricks on the mound and he's got a 1.98 ERA and 0.849 WHIP in 10 home starts. Former Cub, Jeff Samardzija goes for the Giants and he's really pitched well of late. He's got a 2.06 ERA in his last 8 starts. Give me the UNDER 7.5!

The set-up: The Cubs have rolled to victory over the first two games of this series and I think the home side keeps the foot on the gas in the finale as well. Chicago has won four in a row now: "I would like to think it is coming together," Chicago president of baseball operations Theo Epstein remarked yesterday. "It is in our hands. We have a chance to go out there and play really well. You have to go out there and leave no room for doubt. We have to beat some really good teams." San Fran comes in on the other end of the spectrum, dejected after three straight losses.

The pitchers: Jeff Samardzija (9-9, 3.54 ERA) is 4-2 over his last eight starts, but he’s 0-2 with a 6.35 ERA vs. his former team.

Kyle Hendricks (8-9, 3.37) most recently allowed one run over seven innings vs. the Pirates.

The pick: It’s interesting to note that while he’s a poor 4-7 with a 4.76 ERA in 13 starts on the road this season, Hendricks is 4-2 with a 1.98 ERA in ten starts in “Friendly Confines.” I’m banking on Hendricks continuing that run of greatness at home. Consider the home side in this one.
