Miami vs. Cincinnati – October 1, 2015 (-6.5, 69.5)
This week’s college football betting preview is between Miami and Cincinnati and we will go over some key stats. Need to know more about Cincinnati from a betting perspective? Well if you did not catch our college football picks against the spread last week than these highlights will give you a pretty good idea about what the Bearcats are all about this year.
When the ‘Canes have the football:
The Miami offense is ranked 15th this season with 6.7 yards per play behind an experienced QB in Brad Kaaya who has thrown for 839 passing yards in 3 games with 5 TD and 1 INT. Kaaya has been pretty consistent against all 3 opponents, none of which posed much of a defensive threat (Bethune, FAU, Nebraska). Now he goes up against Cincinnati’s defense which is ranked 98th in opposing QB rating so I’m expecting Kaaya to have a big game here.
3rd downs – Miami is just 9-38 on third downs which could be an issue as they have not had success of 30% or better in any of their 3 games. As bad as the Bearcats defense has beent hey have gotten off the field on third downs holding opponents to 25% in 4 games including Memphis who was 3-12.
When the Bearcats have the football:
We know this Cincinnati team is going to always be able to move the ball ranking 18th in yards per play they have been able to put up yards in all of their games, but they have had 14 total turnovers that have really hurt them in their 2 losses. Hayden Moore takes over at QB after his record breaking performance and he’ll face a Miami defense allowing 5.8 yards per play which is 76th in the country and they have done that against offenses ranked – 92nd (without their star QB), and 13th (at home). It will be interesting to see how well Cincinnati is able to move the ball on Thursday night.
Can the ‘Canes avoid the classic trap game scenario on the road on Thursday Night?
That’s right this team will face Florida State up next their in state rival. This year they have a better shot at beating than any other and I with the bye week you know the team was probably talking more about Florida State than Miami. However, can they get by that with a win against a Cinci team that’s banged up and has continued to turn the ball over? Find out in Freddy’s premium selection college football pick!
